An Experienced Mind and Body Trainer
Spurred on by a fascination with the mind-body connection, I graduated with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychologist in the late 80s, while working as a Charge Nurse. And it was around this time that I also trained as a group fitness instructor and a personal trainer.
Upon graduation from university, I ventured out into private psychology practice where I guided individuals towards emotional well-being. And I ran dynamic group therapy programs for a range of mental health issues.
My love of fitness grew during these years as a Clinical Psychologist so I took every opportunity to teach group fitness classes. Everything from Step, High Impact Aerobics, to Boot Camps.
My favourite way to work with others was to go for a brisk walk in the local nature reserve with my clients. Getting heart rates up while unravelling and healing emotional struggles.
My early experiences as a Clinical Psychologist helping others ignited my interest in Mindfulness. As a personal practice and later on as a therapy strategy for my individual and group clients.
I am a Clinical Psychologist and a qualified, experienced Fitness Trainer.
I am also a certified Brain Health Trainer with further qualifications in:
- Personal Training
- Group Exercise Training
- Alzheimer’s Disease Fitness Specialist
- Older Adult Fitness
- Personal Coaching
- Functional Training
- Mindfulness Teacher Training
- Applied Neuroscience and Brain Health
- Menopause Weight Loss Coaching
- Mindfulness Teacher Training

Would you love to be able to keep doing what you love by controlling how you age?
Let me share my free eBook: 4 Unique Steps to Control How Your Body and Brain Age. It will teach you practicable and effective steps you can start right away.
Where to start … Well I am the same age as Penelope but certainly no where near as fit! But it doesn’t matter as Penelope runs the classes in such a positive fun energetic way that I always feel so good at the end, and look forward to the next class.
I honestly love everything about Prime Active, from my own personal journey to look after myself instead of everybody else .. to enjoying the gorgeous place we do the exercises, the other lovely people who attend and feeling my brain being switched on. It is sooo good. Oh and the coffee after Saturday class is great too!
Where are you located? Is there a set schedule for classes? Does one need to physically present to join your program? I am 64 and I live in Cheshire, CT.
Hi Debra and thanks for your comment.
Interesting timing in that I am about to promote my online classes in my Facebook group- saw your request to join so will approve that now.
I am in Australia so that’s why I mention the online option to you.
They are the same classes I teach in person except they are 30 minutes rather than 45 minutes.
I will be teaching 2x online classes each week with replays sent to your email.
When I finalise, I will contact you with all the details and you can look out for my post in the Fb group this week.
Thanks
Penelope
