Confessions of a Fitness Trainer: Unveiling Inner Strength: From Resistance to Resilience

by | Feb 22, 2024 | Podcast | 0 comments

Are you one of the many women who struggle with exercising regularly? Studies show that only 25% of women over 55 meet the recommended weekly dose of exercise, including both cardio and strength training. As a fitness trainer, this statistic is both sobering and alarming.

But let’s clarify this. Around 70% of older women do get enough aerobic activity, but the uptake of strength training remains worryingly low. Why?

There are various reasons, from lack of awareness about its benefits to misconceptions about bulking up and fear of injury or societal expectations.

In this episode, I draw from psychology, my personal experience, and the inspiring stories of women just like you. To discuss the importance of making exercise a pleasure rather than a chore.

My life’s work is about making exercise enjoyable for women over 55, inspiring them to be active regularly and sufficiently.
I’m not here to guilt or shame you into it. Instead, I want you to celebrate what your body can do and inspire you to prioritize your health and well-being.

Through the stories of inspiring women, we’ll explore the transformative power of cardio and strength training, witnessing remarkable transformations from sedentary lifestyles to active ones.

What’s a way that you could make exercise a pleasure rather than a chore? Share your thoughts, stories, and reflections below in the comments section.

In this episode, we cover:

Barriers to Strength Training: Lack of awareness, misconceptions, fear of injury, and societal expectations. It’s crucial to address these barriers to promote a holistic approach to fitness.

Understanding Human Nature: Human psychology plays a significant role in our approach to exercise. By reframing exercise as a source of pleasure rather than a chore, we can overcome barriers and cultivate long-term habits.
