PENELOPE ROSE LANE
OWNER/ CREATOR – Prime Active
Hello, I’m Penelope- the owner and creator of Prime Active and its sole group fitness instructor.
I’m an expert in fitness, cognitive health, psychology (emotional health) & mindfulness, having worked in these areas for over 35 years.
Prime Active is the culmination of my personal and professional life journey. At the tender age of 65, I have the life experience and credentials to help women & men over 55. Because I understand the problems they face and how to guide and support them to build fitness, strength, improved memory & mental clarity, confidence and mobility.
When I started over 4 decades ago in Nursing, it was all about understanding the body. And I recall getting into trouble with senior nurses for sitting on patients’ beds and guiding them with their emotional problems.
So I decided to study Psychology in my 20’s and that was all about the mind. And I realised really quickly that you can’t separate the mind from the body.
So I became passionate about physical fitness, brain fitness, mindfulness, and emotional well-being.
And I’m still teaching this unique combo of things 35 years later.
And mostly people have caught up with me- embracing the mind-body-emotion connection.
My Fitness Journey – Penelope Lane
For most of my youth, I was not a fit or healthy person. I struggled big-time with being overweight, having health issues, and I’d get out of breath just walking around the house. I couldn’t stick to a health routine that made me feel fit, vibrant, confident, and motivated.
Everything changed when I became pregnant at 30 and realised I had to look after more than my own health. Through a mix of therapy, exercise, mindfulness, and family support – I began a radical lifestyle change.
It was joining a boot camp in Perth, led by an ex-SAS soldier, that cemented my love for healthy living, including exercise. Reaching the elite squad in this boot camp, I still to this day, many decades on, prioritise my fitness and strength. This dedication saw me run my first half marathon, at the age of 61.
I am a strong believer that you can only teach something that you are proficient at yourself. That way, you know the ins and outs of it; the challenges and the best, most effective ways to move forward.
WALKING THE TALK:
When I am not teaching her Prime Active group fitness classes, I’m doing my own intense physical training, practising mindfulness, hanging out with my son and daughter, taking my beloved dog for her walk or working on my online training courses and programs.
Yes, I’m busy and I love every moment of it.
“I believe that with the right guidance and skills, you can improve your health significantly – wherever you are starting from.”
